In commercial product photography, creating a strong image is no longer just about lighting a product well. It is about building a visual language that communicates performance, energy and brand identity.
I have been working with the Cristiano Ronaldo fragrance brand for several years, supporting various product launches and visual campaigns. For this particular project, the team reached out with a new body spray launch and a clear direction around energy, performance and a sporty aesthetic.
As with most of our collaborations, the process started with a discussion around the brief. The brand shared their expectations, references and the overall direction they wanted to achieve. From there, I developed a series of creative options, exploring how we could translate those ideas into strong, campaign-ready visuals.
Once the concepts were presented and refined together, we moved into execution.
The goal was to create imagery that feels premium, dynamic and commercially effective, while maintaining a clean and controlled environment. This was not about adding complexity. It was about creating impact through precision.
The core idea behind this project was to translate performance into light.
Instead of relying on literal sports elements, I explored how light, motion and composition can represent speed, strength and control. Dynamic light streaks were used to suggest acceleration, while subtle motion blur introduced energy without compromising clarity. Controlled highlights shaped the product and ensured it remained the visual anchor in every frame.
The result is imagery that feels alive, while still being clean and highly usable for commercial applications.
Although these visuals were created using advanced compositing and modern tools, the foundation of this work is rooted in editorial photography principles. Every frame is treated as a high-end campaign image, with careful attention to lighting behaviour, reflections, shadow consistency and material accuracy.
This approach allows the work to sit between editorial and commercial. It feels creative and expressive, but remains grounded and realistic, which is essential for brands.
The lighting and production process focused on a few key principles:
Strong rim lighting to define the shape of the product
Directional lighting to create depth and contrast
Controlled reflections for a clean, premium finish
Subtle colour accents to reinforce brand identity
Motion elements introduced through light and compositing
Maintaining sharpness and clarity of the product at all times
From there, compositing techniques were used to refine and extend the visuals. Motion elements such as light streaks were layered into the scene, atmospheric effects like mist and glow were introduced, and highlights and shadows were adjusted to ensure consistency across all frames.
The focus throughout the process was not to overcomplicate the image, but to refine it so that every element feels intentional.
One of the key advantages of this approach is its simplicity and scalability. From a single base setup, it is possible to create multiple variations for campaigns, social media and advertising. This allows brands to maintain a consistent visual identity while reducing production complexity.
For high-end brands such as Cristiano Ronaldo, consistency and perception are critical. Visuals need to feel premium, controlled and recognisable across all platforms.
This method allows for high-quality output, faster turnaround and a flexible production workflow, without compromising on the final result.
Today, product photography is not just about showing a product. It is about communicating value, building trust and creating a strong visual presence in a competitive market.
Brands need imagery that is both visually striking and strategically designed to perform.
I work with brands across the UK and internationally, creating commercial product photography that is designed to elevate products and support marketing goals. Alongside my work with UK clients, I am now also available in Poland, including Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Łódź and Warsaw.
This allows me to collaborate with both UK and Polish brands, offering a consistent high-end approach and flexible production options.
This project reflects a direction I strongly believe in. Less noise, more intention.
By combining editorial thinking with modern production techniques, it is possible to create visuals that are clean, dynamic, scalable and commercially effective.
